‘Disgusted’ Bold & Beautiful Viewers Rightly Outraged by Horrifying Twist: ‘Do Better!’

Bold & Beautiful fans, us included, have been mystified about the show’s handling of Luna for ages. Were we expected to feel sorry for a remorseless murderess who seizes every opportunity to paint herself as a victim? What were we meant to feel when she shrugged off the fact that grandma Li risked everything to save her? And for heaven’s sake, how can we anything but despise Luna after she flat-out raped Will?

Make no mistake, what transpired in the August 21 episode was rape. Thanks to Luna’s bartending, Will was much too intoxicated to consent, and on top of that, the psycho took pains to ensure that he believed he was having intercourse with his girlfriend, Electra. It was a horrific twist, especially when the show keeps jumping through hoops to keep Luna on the canvas.

Bold & Beautiful Fans ‘Disgusted’ by Luna’s Rape of Will

“Do better, Bold & Beautiful,” demanded ToyaBJuicy on social media. “I don’t wanna keep seeing drunk or drugged-out young folks getting sexually assaulted.” And that is a plot point that the soap has been playing since the beginning, when Ridge had sex with an inebriated Caroline during her marriage to Thorne. Years later, he horrified Brooke by taking advantage of her while she was out of it on anti-anxiety medication. (More on that here.)

“I’m disgusted,” tweeted Kisha. “Luna raped Will? This was utterly disgusting. Also, notice how their lazy asses used recycled Brooke/Oliver storyline along with Thomas/Caroline. How original.” Clearly, we’re going to have to add this stomach-turning story choice to our photo gallery of daytime’s all-time dumbest moves.

Bold & Beautiful Could Have Gone an Altogether Different Route

The soap didn’t have to further paint Luna into a corner from which there is no getting out, either. (As it is, murdering two innocent people for no reason other than she wanted a rich sugar daddy renders the character altogether unforgivable.) The writers could have simply played up Will’s youthful idiocy. “Honestly, [the show] should have just made Will a cheating sleazeball,” suggested Heatspeare, “He’s young and stoopid [sic]. Let him make mistakes.”
