Chance Chancellor had no sooner left the building… or the chateau as it were, than Young & Restless recast his role… in a sense. There’s about to be a new detective in Genoa City, and he’ll be played by a face very familiar to General Hospital fans!
Update October 15: Matt Cohen will debut as Detective Burrows, in Los Angeles rather than Genoa City, on Thursday, October 16, according to the actor’s social media.
Original story September 5: Young & Restless has been on something of a casting spree lately, with the announcements that daytime vet Roger Howarth has been cast in a mystery role, Tamara Braun has been tapped to play newcomer, Sienna, and Days of Our Lives’ Lucas Adams was given the nod as a recast Noah Newman. Now, comes the news that former General Hospital star, Matt Cohen, has also signed onto the show.
According to a report by EW, Cohen will make his Genoa City debut next month as Detective Burrows.
Stepping into Chance’s considerable shoes at the Genoa City Police Department, he’ll be “front and center investigating a major case featuring some of the soap’s key characters.” This is hardly surprising considering all of the corporate threats circulating at the moment. Will someone use Cane Ashby’s AI software for nefarious purposes? It certainly sounds that way!
Cohen’s previous daytime role was that of hunky doc Griffin Monroe on General Hospital, who eventually left town to grieve after Kiki (Hayley Erin) died. The actor is also well-known for primetime’s Supernatural.
If you’re a fan of hot law enforcement types and/or business intrigue, you’ll want to mark your calendars for Cohen’s first Young & Restless airdate, which is Thursday, October 16. Are you excited for Detective Burrows’ arrival?
