Thursday’s episode of Bold & Beautiful brings back to the fold a legacy character with a storied history. (Read all about that here.) But we’re less interested in R.J. Forrester’s past than in his future, especially now that daytime newcomer Brayan Nicoletti is stepping into the role (previously played by Joshua Hoffman and Anthony Turpel).
Where Has R.J. Been?
When Ridge and Brooke’s son vanished from Los Angeles after learning estranged girlfriend Luna Nozawa was a double murderess, did he resume what we’re sure was his lucrative career as a social-media influencer? Did he sneak off to design school to capitalize on the skills that grandpa Eric discovered that he had?
Eh, no. Turns out R.J. was just on a trip. And as he resettles in L.A., we’ll quickly find that “he’s grown into this man who’s really trying to figure out what he values and where his priorities should be,” Nicoletti tells TV Insider.
As you can see in the first-look photo below, R.J. picks up right where he left off clashing with dear ol’ Dad. Considering how close R.J. and Eric are, the nepo baby might have some strong words to say about his father’s decision to forcibly retire his father.
Of course, R.J. wouldn’t be a Forrester if he didn’t immediately take a shine to someone to whom he is pseudo-related but not by blood. In his case, that someone appears to be Electra, who looks hella uncomfortable after he helps her with her necklace. (Where’s Will Spencer when ya need him?) But before R.J. makes too much trouble in paradise, we suspect that he will have another young woman on his radar: Dylan No-Last-Name.
At the moment, the driver who made roadkill of Dylan is crushing on her pal’s boyfriend. But since based on everything we know about the co-ed, the last thing she’d want to do is come between Will and Electra, we could easily imagine her distracting herself by dating R.J.
In sum, the sea change from, say, a Hope/Liam/Steffy/Finn storyline to a Dylan/Will/Electra/R.J. one marks sort of a changing of the guard at the show, from one generation to the next. Or, as Nicoletti puts it, “Bringing in a younger set of performers… adds so many dynamics to it.”
