Three Strikes and He’s Out: Is This the Horrifying, *Real* Reason General Hospital’s Nathan Is After Lulu?

Well, after Wednesday’s General Hospital, we learned that swinging a bat isn’t at all like riding a bike. Go long enough without doing it and you do forget how! At least, that’s what Nathan said after whiffing in front of his son. It’s been seven years, he’s just a bit… rusty.
And that may be true, but it’s not the first thing he’s forgotten or claimed to be rusty at. In fact, the show is not being at all subtle about the Nathan discrepancies. They want us to doubt that it’s him. They want us to question who he really is. But they also might want us to overthink things. Because he could still very much be Nathan — and he could be working for Sidwell and Cullum.
They could have brought him back and brainwashed him to use him, just as they’ve been using Britt. She, they could coerce with the threat of withholding life-saving medicine. But Nathan? They’d have needed to force him a bit more.
Maybe they made him a “sleeper” agent, unaware he’s working for them, but maybe aware that something’s… off. They’d keep his mind intact so he could get back into the PCPD and keep an eye on the cops. And they’d program him to go after Lulu, so that they could, if needed, use extra leverage to threaten Laura. The mayor might eventually balk if it’s just herself on the line — she’s more than capable of self-sacrifice — but if her daughter was threatened, she’d be right back in line to keep Lulu safe.
But maybe the brainwashing wasn’t perfect and Nathan’s missing some basic skills and memories he had before like playing baseball or how the chain of custody works with police work.
In the end, it might explain a lot, like why he’s seemed so focused on Lulu and why he’s been acting so strangely. Activate him when needed, keep tabs on the cops and, if they need to, threaten Lulu’s very life so Laura does as told.
It’s dark, especially the Lulu part, but it would allow this to still be Nathan and would ensure he can stick around after this is all over and the brainwashing is wiped. Because if it’s just Peter in a mask or Faison’s mind in Nathan, when Sidwell and Cullum are taken down, we’re losing Britt’s brother all over again. And hey, let’s hope that when this is all over, he can actually play baseball again!
