We Asked You To Weigh in on This Bold &Amp; Beautiful Story — And the Results Were Shocking!
Well, we definitely didn’t see this twist coming.
Over the past few weeks, Bold & Beautiful viewers have watched as Ivy’s low-level manipulations managed to come between Will and Electra. Despite the fact that we get paid the small-to-medium bucks to watch soaps, our entire staff has been left scratching their heads by this storyline.
Why? Because the whole thing could be resolved if any of these people talked to one another. But as tends to happen on this particular show, characters who do nothing but sit around having endlessly repetitive conversations don’t actually discuss anything important.
Despite the silly nature of Will and Electra’s so-called drama, it’s definitely struck a chord with the audience. We recently ran a poll asking viewers whether they were throwing their support behind Electra and Will or the young hunk and Dylan. The results were shocking, as they indicated an even split.
In fact, at the time of this story’s publication, only three votes separated the two pairs, with Will and Electra having the oh-so-slight advantage.
And honestly? Kudos to Bold & Beautiful, because the toughest trick in the soap opera book is to create a love triangle in which fans are rooting for each potential pairing. In most cases, one side far outweighs the other. But if you’re doing it right, both sides have shippers.
Think General Hospital’s Elizabeth/Jason/Sam (although that particular storyline was never fully explored, sadly), or Young & Restless’ Phyllis/Nick/Sharon.
No, we’re not quite ready to throw Bold & Beautiful’s teens into such storied company, but it is a sign that the scribes are doing something right where the younger set is concerned.
